November Lunch Menu
ACT -- Thursday, November 7
The ACT test is a tool for high school students that checks how well they've learned important skills for college and is often used to determine access to financial aid. The ACT Fall Test is scheduled for Thursday, November 7th from 8:00-12:00 for all 9th-11th graders. Students should arrive at school by 7:50 am, be well rested, eat a healthy breakfast, and bring their graphing calculators. ACT offers free test prep options on their website: ACT Test Prep.
Shop My Closet -- Thursday, November 7
All 9-12 grade girls and their moms are invited to an LA Homecoming “Shop My Closet" event on Thursday, November 7th at 5:00. Ladies may bring any used dresses to loan out to other girls and see what is available to use in this year’s Homecoming!
The event will take place in the auditorium immediately following basketball practice. Refreshments will be provided and a brief meeting from the Homecoming team will take place. All Homecoming court and mothers are asked to attend. We will share guidelines, the heart of homecoming, and dress hunting tips and tricks!
Oratory Program Practices
The LA Oratory Program will be held on Thursday, November 14.
This week, we will have after-school practices for ALL Upper-Level students on Tuesday and Friday, 3-4pm.
Students will be assigned their readings to learn. Parents, help them memorize parts of it, ask them what it's about and what it can mean to them. We will also be practicing in English class throughout the week.
Pee Wee Basketball
It's time for Lil Warrior Ball! Please REGISTER HERE. Registration is $15 per child and can be paid in the front office or online with this link: 2024-2025 Pee Wee Basketball Registration Fee. This will be for students in the 3rd-6th grades or up to 12 years old. Age groups may be combined to make teams. Students may play up but not down. If a 2nd grader is wanting to play, please visit with Coach Gallagher or Coach Smallwood for consideration.
Our teams will play teams from Foreman, Umpire, Horatio, De Queen etc. and games will be in December & January. A schedule will be made available as soon as possible. Volunteers are needed to help with teams, to operate the gate, concession stand, and scoreboard for home games. Players will need basketball shoes that are not worn anywhere else and are only used on the gym floor. Put their name in them, as there is a place at the gym they can be stored. To field teams, we really need everyone possible to play!
Parenting Corner
From Mr. Nix
The Bible gives a clear picture of why encouragement is such a powerful and important practice in all the relationships of life.
“But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.” Hebrews 3:13 NIV
Here are a few more suggestions for ways you can speak words of encouragement and life to those you love.
You are the kind of friend I wanted when I was your age.
I appreciate you so much.
You make me laugh.
What a great idea!
I love when you are around.
I am really proud of you.
You have a big heart.
You are doing a great job!
Be creative, but find ways to encourage your children daily. You will be glad you did. Be encouraged!
Are You Our Next Pre-K Teacher?
Or do you know who is?
Dear LA Families,
Due to her broken foot, a needed surgery, and several days a week of required rehab, Mrs. Bean is sadly leaving us from teaching Pre-K. We need to hire a new Pre-K teacher and we need to do so SOON!
We need someone who is organized and structured, loves children, is patient, and desires to work and serve children in a Christ-centered environment.
Do you know someone who would be a good fit? Is it you!?
Please help us fill this position by praying with us and maybe it is you we should hire!? Maybe you know the perfect fit.
Here is the application link.
Thank you!
Athletics -- Bus Drivers
We need help driving the bus for the upcoming year. If you are interested in helping with this, please let Mr. Smallwood know (tim.smallwood@legacymail.org). Legacy Academy will cover the cost of the CDL exam, and a small stipend for driving is available. PLEASE HELP WITH THIS!
